First trailers for Paul Feig's 'Spy' show Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law, Jason Statham and Rose Byrne in action

Paul Feig, the creator of Freaks and Geeks, is the man who made Melissa McCarthy a household name, being the director behind both Bridesmaids and The Heat. As such, they're set their third vehicle together, Spy, and the first trailers for the movie are out now.

These teasers via Yahoo Movies — one green-band, one red-band — give us our first official look at he new action comedy, also starring Jude Law, Jason Statham and Rose Byrne, which centers on a mild-mannered CIA assistant who steps up to bring down a dangerous criminal. Also written by Feig, Spy contains the same in-your-face raunchy talk and pratfalls now synonymous with McCarthy's brand, and, if this is your thing, you'll probably get some good chuckles here.

Although it looks like more of the same to me — I wasn't the biggest fan of Tammy and despised The Heat and Identity Thief — there are at least some bright spots here. The opening gag in the red-band trailer got a good, unexpected laugh out of me, and one line involving an owl cracked a smile on my face as well. That alone already puts Spy above McCarthy's last couple features.

In addition to Spy, McCarthy has a couple other projects in the works, including her own fashion line, playing Tinkerbell, another season of Mike & Molly, and maybe starring in Feig's upcoming all-female Ghostbusters reboot.
