Louis C.K. continues taking over FX. For, in addition to his great, acclaimed series Louie returning for its fifth season, the station is also going to back his next stand-up special and the pilot Better Things, starring his Louie/Lucky Louie co-star Pamela Aldon.
HitFlix reports FX set the eight-episode fifth season premiere of Louie for April 9, which precedes the series premiere of The Comedians, starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad. Also coming this spring is Louis C.K. Live From the Comedy Store, C.K.'s latest stand-up special, which FX now has the TV rights for. The special will first be made available on LouisCK.net first, however, much like Live at the Beacon Theater. There is no set date at the moment for its television arrival.
Better Things, meanwhile, is the latest C.K. show with the station. It will center on Aldon as an actress raising three girls by herself...so, essentially like Louie. Aldon will executive produce and co-write the pilot, while C.K. will also co-write and direct it. These are all projects under C.K.'s banner Pig Newton, who is also behind Baskets, another new show C.K. is making with Zach Galifiankis, which likely comes out later this year as well.
Away from his station, C.K. is currently on tour, and became the first comedian to sell out three shows in Madison Square Garden history, with a fourth set on January 27, with tickets on sale now.
