Lauren Cohan of 'The Walking Dead' fame cast in 'The Boy'

Lauren Cohan, one of the key stars of The Walking Dead who started on the show in season two has been cast in a leading film role.

Aside from The Walking Dead, Cohan has been in television roles such as The Vampire Diaries and even did a voice character for Archer. She has done some movie roles such as Reach Me and Float.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Cohan will step into the leading role where she plays a nanny who is tasked with overseeing a lifelike doll by a bizarre couple who treat it as a real child. The couple use the doll as way to cope with the death of their young son, but the nanny becomes increasingly convinced that it is alive.

The production of The Boy which is also directed by William Brent Bell (The Devil Inside) from Lakeshore Entertainment and Vertigo Entertainment is set to begin in British Columbia in March.

Cohan returns as Maggie Greene on The Walking Dead on February 8th.
