Mitt Romney hinting towards 2016 presidential run

A little over two years ago Republican candidate Mitt Romney came up short in his bid to become the next President of the United States. Although most thought he'd never run again, today Romney announced he's toying with the idea.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the former Massachusetts Governor told donors in Manhattan on Friday that he's considering a run in 2016.

"People ask if I really want to be president," Romney said, according to a source in the room. "Yeah, I want to be president."

The sentiment was especially strong that he wouldn't run again considering what he's said in the past. After two failed attempts, his wife, Ann Romney, was quoted as saying her family was "done, done, done" with campaigning.

Romney also said this around a year ago on NBC's Meet the Press:

"Look, I want to find the best candidate for us to take our message to the American people," he said. "That we can bring better jobs, higher incomes, and more security globally. We can do that. And I'm convinced that the field of Republican candidates that I'm seeing is a lot better position to do that than I am. So I'm not running," notes NBC News.

Friday's news suggests a man that might not be done just yet.

The news comes just as top Republican donors have started to rally around former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. Seems like a classic case of a politician getting the ink at the most necessary of times.

Because of the mixed signals sent over the past year, the only thing Republicans can do at the moment is keep trucking along. The one thing we do know for sure is that Romney himself seems to be conflicted about this decision.
