Last week, we found the machine struggling to come up with a successful plan to get Reese, Root, Finch and Fusco out of the stock exchange safely. In the final plan, Shaw shows up, but is shot by Samaritan.
We see a news brief about a masked man and woman on a war path, that man and woman happens to be Reese and Root.
We are taken into Control’s mindset on things. We see her bringing her daughter to school, then heading to work. She is talking to Chief of Staff, Mike, about the attack on the stock market, which Control believes to be just a computer malfunction and not a terrorist attack.
Samaritan, in the form of the young boy that had a talk with Root, shows up in Mike’s office and tells him that the stock market will close tonight, down 16 percent. He asks to speak with the president but Mike dismisses him.
Control is in the operations room where they find out there is a group of terrorists planning an attack on different historic sites. ISA operatives surround their hideout and Control gives the okay to kill. They manage to shoot three of the four targets, the fourth’s cell phone was found, but he was not there.
Control asks to look into the laptop of the missing terrorist, but their access is denied. Travers, a Samaritan operative, then shuts down their system.
Control reports what happened, and Travers explains that the computer contained a virus that needed to stay contained. They get a call from Greer who will tell them where the missing terrorist is, only if they drop the incident with Travers. They agree.
Control gets two of her ISA agents to look for the missing terrorist. One of the ISA agents is Grice, the agent that let Shaw get away. The find the terrorist and Grice manages to get his laptop before he jumps out of a window. Grice calls Control while looking through the computer, but it catches fire and melts. The terrorist gets away again. Control gets a message from Samaritan which reads: Stop it. Now.
Control tires to get the agents on another case but finds out that they were reassigned. She confronts Travers who is responsible for the reassignment and for having her followed. When she leaves she calls for her personal security detail, but later finds out that they were injured in a car crash which involved Root and Reese.
Control manages to find the missing terrorist at the train station, but is deterred when Reese and Root show up with a grenade launcher.
Control is tied up and is confronted by Reese. He asks about Shaw and she tells him she has no idea about her. Root then takes out a taser and threatens Control’s daughter. She is about to kill her when Finch stops her. He speaks to Control about the stock market shoot out. She reveals that she heard nothing about it, and Finch believes that she is being kept in the dark. He tells her that Samaritan was behind the stock market crash, but she doesn’t believe him.
They hear a door open and Control reveals that ISA agents are coming to look for her, but Finch and his team were expecting them. Root gets into a gunfight and Reese and Grice punch it out, all while Fusco and Finch break into ISA’s undercover van to implant a worm on their cellular devices in hopes of finding information about Shaw.
Reese is about to kill Grice but finds out that he is the guy who let Shaw go, so Reese in turn lets Grice go. Finch and the others leave and wait for Finch’s worm to come up with something.
Control finds the escaped terrorist in Canada. He reveals to her that he and his friends were hired to create a unique computer code and that when they completed it, that’s when they became targets. Control still believes he is a terrorist and kills him anyway, ignorant to the fact that Samaritan is keeping secrets.
Samaritan, as the young boy, returns to Mike’s office where he proves his earlier statements about the stocks. He asks to speak with the president, and that he will be seeing Mike again.
Control continues her daily routine, dropping off her daughter at school and stopping another terrorist act. This time, she decides to take a tour of the stock exchange where Finch told her about the gunfight. When the elevator doors open, the room is squeaky clean.
Just as we believe that she will believe that nothing bad happened there, she runs her finger across the wall and finds wet paint.
Person of Interest will return February 3 at 10 pm on CBS. Will we find Shaw?
