‘Sleepy Hollow’ Season Two Finale Recap: “Tempus Fugit”

Ichabod is loading his rifle and preparing to engage in combat. He is fighting a battle and once the fighting concludes, he is told a woman is asking for him. He goes and talks with Abbie, unaware of who she is. Abbie tries her best to convince him of her credibility and what the future holds for him. He refuses to believe her at first but she keeps telling him information that she could not possibly know.

Katrina arrives at the medical tent looking for Ichabod. She finds out that he was called away to visit Abbie in prison. Katrina knows Abbie is going to try and warn Ichabod of her intentions.

Ichabod frees Abbie and she continues to warn him of The Horseman and his allies. She claims that he will die and in 200 years, they will meet. Ichabod seems confused and unwilling to believe her. Abbie hopes they haven’t already drastically altered history.

Ichabod tries to plead with his superior officer to let him keep Abbie with him. He offers to transport her to an encampment. Ichabod and Abbie are able to ride in a carriage and Ichabod gives her three minutes to prove herself truthful. Abbie tells him of what he will become in the year 2015. Ichabod wants to know what they will do if he actually believes in this time travel and Headless Horseman theory. Abbie says they must stand up and fight. Abbie says they need to talk with Benjamin Franklin. He can support Abbie’s claims.

We see The Horseman riding through the destruction of the battlefield. It appears that he is looking for Ichabod. He is confronted by Katrina. Katrina says that they must kill them both. The Horseman nods his head in agreement.

Abbie talks about how she found Ichabod and what she thought her life was meant for. They arrive at Ben Franklin’s house. She talks with Franklin and tells him that all of his inventions are still present during modern day. “She is the American Dream” says Franklin. Franklin seems to believe Abbie. Franklin talks privately with Abbie about Katrina. Franklin says they must reverse the Traveler’s Spell to undo everything that has happened since Abbie and Katrina arrived in 1781. Franklin warns Abbie not to tell Ichabod the truth about Katrina. Abbie’s ancestor Grace will know how to reverse the spell.

The Horseman arrives and confronts them. Ichabod and The Horseman fight and Abbie shoots at him while The Horseman decapitates Ben Franklin. The bombs Franklin lit explode and they see The Horseman rising up. Abbie and Ichabod flee the house.

Abbie tells Ichabod they have to get to Fredrick’s Manor to reverse the Traveler’s Spell. Abbie tries to convince Ichabod that The Horseman was after them, not Franklin. Abbie tells Ichabod the truth…that The Horseman’s ally is Katrina. He refuses to believe her and she tells him to check her cellphone and look at her pictures. Ichabod is taking punishment about not following orders. He is told that he has been relieved from duty.

Ichabod returns home where he looks for Katrina. Ichabod seems to look at her with a slight concern. Ichabod asks about everything that is on the table. We see that Katrina is levitating a knife behind Ichabod. She stops when men come in the house and tell Ichabod that General Washington seeks him immediately.
Ichabod goes back to the encampment to recover Abbie’s personal effects. He finds her cellphone. Abbie is trying to figure out a way to break out of her cell. Ichabod is going through her phone and Abbie is still trying to escape. Ichabod finds videos that he made with Abbie in the future. Ichabod finally believes everything Abbie has said.

We see Ichabod’s superior officer visit Abbie at her cell. He appears to be there to accuse and intimidate Abbie. Abbie fights him and puts him in a sleeper hold and knocks him out. Ichabod arrives and tells Abbie he believes her.

Ichabod and Abbie are walking to Fredrick’s Manor. Ichabod tells Abbie that he didn't want to believe her. He tells Abbie he suspects that Katrina could actually be a witch. Abbie gives him the unfortunate news that the Katrina that used to love and care for him is gone. They arrive at Fredrick’s Manor to see Grace.

We see Katrina giving medical care to the man Abbie beat up. Katrina has a vision and knows exactly where they are heading. Katrina then informs him that she is a witch and then kills the man.

Abbie meets her ancestor Grace. She is complete awe that she is speaking with her ancestor. She tells Grace that they are related. She remembers Abbie as “The Witness.” Grace says she can return her to the moment the Traveler’s Spell was cast. They can perform the reversal but they will be vulnerable to attack. Ichabod looks out and sees The Horseman arriving outside with Katrina. Ichabod is going outside to stall them while Katrina stays with Grace. She hugs him and wishes him good luck.

Grace tells Abbie to look at the journal where the last pages will be written by her. Katrina and Ichabod attack the house and Ichabod meets them outside. Ichabod fights with The Horseman. Inside, Grace tells Abbie to read the last words to complete the spell. Ichabod continues to fight with The Horseman and The Horseman knocks his weapon out of his hand and grabs Ichabod.

Abbie is reading the words trying to complete the spell. She saves Ichabod just as he is about to be decapitated. We see a flashback of everything that has happened and the spell returns them to the moments before the Traveler’s Spell was cast.

Katrina begins casting a deadly spell against Abbie. Ichabod tries to pick up a knife but Katrina grabs it. Ichabod then reverses it and stabs Katrina in the chest. We see Henry’s spirit appear before Katrina. Ichabod is absolutely devastated that he had to kill his wife. We see Katrina’s body turn to ashes and disappear.

Ichabod says he knew that he had a choice. He picks up the spell book when Irving and Jenny come inside. Irving convinces them that Henry’s death released his soul. Abbie says that Grace told her that this war is not over. Abbie says the most crucial battles are still ahead of them.

Ichabod takes one look back at the room before he leaves. “Are you ready Captain?” Abbie asks. “I’m ready Leftenant” he replies as they leave the room…
