The Ridiculous Six, an ensemble comedy starring Adam Sandler, has moved around like a hot potato in Hollywood. Now, it’s been moved again and will be among the actor’s Netflix movies.
The Western comedy was originally going to be produced at Sony, where Sandler has made most of his recent films. However, Sony handed it to Paramount, which has also decided that they didn’t want to make it. On Monday, Deadline confirmed that Netflix has now picked it up.
Production on Ridiculous Six will start this month in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Indeed, the project is going to be a big deal for the state, as 250 local actors will be used for extras and 200 local crew members will be hired.
The film is a Happy Madison Production. Frank Coraci (The Wedding Singer) is directed. Sandler co-wrote the script with Tim Herlihy. Executive producers are Heather Parry, Allen Covert and Barry Bernardi.
Lastly, Sandler’s co-stars include Terry Crews, Jorge Garcia, Nick Nolte, Luke Wilson, Rob Schneider and Taylor Lautner.
Following recent flops in theaters, Sandler signed a landmark four-movie deal with Netflix in October 2014. He also made an appearance during the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special.
