Arizona Cardinals give Bruce Arians, Steve Keim new deals

The Arizona Cardinals have signed head coach Bruce Arians and general manager Steve Keim to new deals on Monday keeping both men in town till at least 2018.

NFL.com reported that a source familiar with the deal said that Arians’ four-year contract will earn him around $6 million a year and it includes a team option for 2019. The financial details of Keim’s deal were not released.

"Two years ago we hired Steve and Bruce a few days apart and believed we had something really special," team president Michael Bidwill said in a statement. "Every day since then they have done nothing but validate that belief.

"The team's performance over the last two seasons certainly reflects how talented they are in their respective roles and it was important that we reward them for their accomplishments. I speak not only for myself but for all Cardinals fans when I say how thrilled we all are that Steve and Bruce are now under contract through 2018."

Last year, the Cardinals made it to the postseason despite a season-ending knee injury to quarterback Carson Palmer. The team was bounced out of the playoffs though in the Wild Card game against the Carolina Panthers.

In 2013, the team had a successful season record wise by winning 10 games. However, with both the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers coming out of the NFC West, the Cards missed the postseason.

This offseason the franchise has been focused on taking care of those who have been a part of that success. Just last week, the team gave a new two-year deal to Larry Fitzgerald. The wide receiver is not only one of the most popular players to ever wear a Cardinals uniform, but also the franchise’s all-time leader in receiving yards and touchdowns.
