Bruce Jenner's longtime friend Scott Pruett says sex change is 'difficult to understand' but he stands by him

There haven’t been many people close to Bruce Jenner who have spoken out about his gender reassignment process, but his longtime friend and former race car driver buddy Scott Pruett is now speaking out.

Pruett said the last time he caught up with Jenner face-to-face was in 2013 and he showed no signs of becoming a woman then. In the time since then, the former Olympian has stepped out with longer hair, lip injections and more feminine features.

He told Daily News that he’s shocked by the transition from man to woman but he supports him nonetheless.

“I don’t walk in his shoes and it’s difficult to understand what he’s going through and what’s taking place, but I wish him well with whatever makes him happy,” he said. “He’s always been nothing but supportive and helpful to me and I wish the same back to him.”

Of meeting Jenner in 1983, seven years after winning the decathlon, “He was a stud, man. Just a great studly jock that had the world by the tail at the time.”

Earlier this month, Bruce’s mom, Esther Jenner, was the first to confirm his sex change journey.

“I never thought I could be more proud of Bruce when he reached his goal in 1976, but I'm more proud of him now,” she said. “It takes a lot of courage to do what he's doing."

Last month Jenner’s stepdaughter, Kim Kardashian, said on Entertainment Tonight, “I feel like that's his journey to talk about."

He will reportedly document it on a docu-series for E! after the finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
