Don Draper's suit and fedora among 'Mad Men' items heading to Smithsonian

Mad Men, one of the best dramas launched in the past decade, will be coming to an end in April. To mark the occasion, AMC is hosting several events throughout the country, including at the Smithsonian.

AMC said that the Smithsonian’s Museum of American History will join the celebration on March 27. A selection of items from the series, including Don Draper’s suit, fedora and office bar cart, will be put on display. Creator Matthew Weiner’s script for “The Wheel” will be on display, featuring an alternate, unfilmed ending.

Other costumes, props, video clips, notes and research material will go on display at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City from March 14 to June 14. The exhibition will give fans an inside look at how Weiner and his crew brought the 1960s alive in the show. Weiner will also attend a conversation on the show on March 20. A series of films that inspired Weiner from the ‘60s will be screened from March 14 to April 19.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center will host an event called “Mad Men: The End of an Era” on March 21. Jon Hamm, Christina Hendricks, January Jones and other stars will join Weiner for that event. Weiner also picked his favorite episodes for a two-day marathon called “The Essential Mad Men.”

The Museum of Jewish Heritage and BAMcinematek at the Brooklyn Academy of Music will also host two-day film festivals on April 22 and April 23.

In Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art will host screenings of episodes on March 27 and March 27.

Mad Men’s final seven episodes will start on April 5 at 10 p.m.
