'Fifty Shades' star Jamie Dornan's 'Jadotville' heads to Netflix

For those curious to see what Jamie Dornan does when he’s not playing Christian Grey, you can check out Jadotville on Netflix next year.

The film, which Dornan joined in August 2014, will star the Fifty Shades of Grey actor as Irish Commendat Pat Quinlan. In 1961, Quinlan lead 150 UN Irish troops in the Congo, overcoming 3,000 Congolese troops. Tell No One’s Guillaume Canet co-stars as a French commander who lead the Congolese.

According to Variety, Netflix said it secured worldwide distribution of the film. It will be released in 2016 and production starts this April.

Richie Smyth, a music video director, will make his feature debut with the project. Kevin Brodbin wrote the script. Alan Moloney of Parallel Films will produce.

“As filmmakers, we are constantly looking for new ways to bring a movie to the largest possible audience,” Moloney said. “Netflix has already reinvented the TV market and is now moving front and center into the film business.”

Jadotville is just the latest movie deal Netflix has struck. The streaming company has secured deals with Adam Sandler and Mark and Jay Duplass, as well as the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sequel.

Dornan also starred in The Fall, which is also on Netflix.
