After the costly Pacific Rim, Guillermo Del Toro has returned to his fantasy horror roots with Crimson Peak. The first trailer for the film, which stars Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston, hit the web on Friday.
Crimson Peak appears to be set in the Victorian age and centers on an aspiring author who is tempted by a mysterious outsider after a family tragedy. While she tries to run from her past, she gets stuck in a home that’s actually... alive.
The cast also includes Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam (who starred in Pacific Rim). Emma Stone was actually supposed to have Wasikowska’s part, but she left the film in June 2013.
Crimson Peak is a Legendary production and will be released on Oct. 16 by Universal. Legendary also worked with Del Toro on Pacific Rim. Del Toro is currently working on a Pacific Rim sequel.
