Hear the awesome Louisville student percussionists perform Led Zeppelin on xylophones

When we think of Led Zeppelin, usually what comes to mind is Robert Plant’s intense vocals or Jimmy Page’s extended guitar solos. Their work doesn’t exactly scream “xylophone material,” but that didn’t stop the Louisville Leopard Percussionists from performing “Kashmir” with the instrument.

A video of the group, which is made up of 55 students between the ages of 7 and 12, rehearsing a version of the iconic song was posted back on Nov. 19, but is just getting attention now. The majority of the video shows them performing “Kashmir,” but then they move into “The Ocean” and “The Immigrant Song.”

Why did it take so long for the clip to get noticed? It turns out that Page himself just saw it and he posted a link on Facebook. “Too good not to share,” he wrote.

The band is now capitalizing on its sudden fame, celebrating the video’s popularity on its own Facebook page. Their bandleader, Diane Downs, was even interviewed by BBC Radio.
