Kelly Clarkson on becoming a mom: 'My whole life took a big 180'

Kelly Clarkson has featured her daughter, River Rose, on a magazine cover for the first time eight months after her birth.

The “Heartbeat Song” singer is now happily married to Brandon Blackstock and a stepmom to his kids from a previous marriage; Savannah, 13, and Seth, 8. She gave birth to River in June.

She admits to People, “My whole life took a big 180.”

Clarkson added, “I never thought I was going to be a mom, so it’s very much changed my world in the most awesome way.”

The first-ever American Idol winner went on to say she relied on her career for her “self-worth” for a long time but it all changed when she became a mom and a wife. “Now I’m more than that,” she said.

In addition to her music, she wants to leave a legacy of career and family.

“I’ve accomplished a lot, but I guess the biggest success I want is that whenever I die people will say, ‘She was so successful as a mother, and as a wife.’ That’s kind of my big goal,” she said.
