Kurt Sutter's 'Bastard Executioner' to star Katey Sagal, Stephen Moyer, guest star Matthew Rhys

The Bastard Executioner, the new series from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter, now has its cast. Like his previous series, the new one will also air on FX.

Sutter confirmed earlier this month that filming will take place in Wales, with production starting in March. His wife, SOA star Katey Sagal, was already confirmed for a starring role.

Now, FX has confirmed that she will play Annora of the Alders in the series.

Lee Jones, an Australian theater actor, will have the starring role of Wilkin Brattle, a former knight under King Edward I. He was hoping to no longer have to fight, but violence in England forces him to pick up his sword once again.

Sutter also has a role for himself as “The Dark Mute,” Annora’s made, whose fface is never seen.

The rest of the cast includes Stephen Moyer (True Blood); Flora Spencer-Longhurst (Leonardo); Sam Spruell (Snow White and the Huntsman); Darren Evans (Galavant); Danny Sapani (Penny Dreadful); Timothy V. Murphy (SOA); Sarah White; and Kessa,y Maddox.

Matthew Rhys will also have a guest role as Gruffudd y Blaidd, a leader of Welsh rebels. FX notes that this does not mean that he is no longer starring on FX’s The Americans.

FX did not say when Bastard Executioner would premiere.
