Lady Gaga moves Oscars audience with 'Sound of Music,' gets seal of approval from Julie Andrews (Video)

Lady Gaga took the stage at the Oscars on Sunday night, singing a medley of songs from The Sound of Music. She was introduced by Scarlett Johansson and got the seal of approval from Julie Andrews herself when she was finished.

Gaga, wearing grey hair, first launched into “The Sound of Music,” then moved on to “My Favorite Things” and “Edelweiss” and lastly, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”

Gaga paid tribute to the classic musical for its 50th anniversary, Entertainment Weekly reports.

When she wrapped up the beautiful performance, Andrews walked out and was clearly moved. She shared a long hug with Gaga and said, “Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute.”

She added, It really warmed my heart. It's hard to believe that 50 years have gone by since that joyous film was released. As for me -- how lucky can a girl get?"

We knew that Gaga was among the performers of the night, but we didn’t know she would be performing a Sound of Music tribute. She hinted at it before the show on Twitter.
