Leonard Nimoy hospitalized with severe chest pains

Legendary Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy was rushed to the hospital four days ago due to severe chest pains.

TMZ has learned that Nimoy's complaints about his chest were so urgent that it caused a 911 call for help. On Feb. 19 Nimoy was transported to UCLA Medical Center and it is widely believed that everybody involved is "taking no chances" in this case.

This latest occurrence, for the man who sold the character Captain Spock so well, is only the latest in a continuing trend of Nimoy being rushed to hospitals.

The Daily Mail sites a most probable reason for the hospital stays. Nimoy suffers from COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Although he quit smoking over 30 years ago, Nimoy announced he was stricken with the smoking caused illness last year. COPD makes it extremely difficult to breathe and Nimoy has been very public in his admission that he believes smoking is the lone culprit.

The American actor is 83 years old and has contributed so much in the way of entertainment, including many years of acting, directing and songwriting.

For most though, Nimoy will always be remembered for his everlasting role as Captain Spock in the many Star Trek films and television shows throughout the years.
