Lorena Rojas, a prolific Mexican Telenovela actress and singer, died after a battle with cancer. She was only 44 years old.
Her talent agency, Latin World Entertainment, said that she died on Monday in Miami. She was surrounded by her friends and family, along with her boyfriend.
Us Weekly reports that she had battled cancer in her liver in 2008 and 2012, but it returned again this past fall. She tweeted as recently as last week, thanking fans for birthday wishes on Feb. 10.
Rojas was a prolific actress and her long list of credits include El Cuerpo del Deseo, Pecados Ajenos, Alcanzar Una Estrella, Rosario and Demente Criminal. She also acted in movies and on stage.
Luciana, her daughter, inspired her mother to release a children’s CD, titled Hijos del Sol, which was released just this year. In 2004, she recorded Directo al corazón.
Rojas was born in Mexico City in 1971. She is survived by her daughter, who will be taken care of by the actress’ sister.
