Nick Cannon to direct romance film 'Three Little Words'

These days, Nick Cannon is best known as the host of NBC's talent show America's Got Talent and as the ex-husband of Mariah Carey. He, of course, wants to expend his public profile beyond that, and the latest way he's trying this is by directing the new romance film Three Little Words.

Variety got the news on Cannon's latest career development. Three Little Words, which tells the story of various people in different relationships struggling to confront their partners with those precious three words "I love you," is not the first time Cannon will helm. He was behind the lens of last year's comedy School Dance and also has several other TV credits to his name as a director. One of the latter credits includes the upcoming TV documentary Teens Know Everything.

Three Little Words apparently already has a U.S. distribution deal in place, but this is to be announced later. Written by Allison Burnett, who recently wrote and directed the indie drama Ask Me Anything, this new romance film is produced by Mike Karz and William Bindley of Gulstream Pictures.

Cannon will executive produce through his NCredible Entertainment label, a company he shares with Michael Goldman, and their company will work alongside Josie Rosen. The Exchange, additionally, is hosting the international rights and they will launch sales during the Berlin International Film Festival this week.

Currently, Three Little Words is in pre-production, but it is unclear exactly when filming is set to start taking place.

In addition to this film and his continued work on his talent show, Cannon is working on a new album. The music may or may not be inspired by his ex-wife.
