Rumors circulated the day before the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary special that N*SYNC might reunite onstage.
While Justin Timberlake opened the show with Jimmy Fallon, the three-and-a-half show came and went without any sighting of the boy band back together again.
Those who follow Lance Bass on Twitter might have received the heads up that the reunion was merely a rumor, as he tweeted before the show started, “For the record , we are not performing or doing a skit tonight on SNL. But look hard for us in he audience! Fun night ahead! #SNL40.”
Some of the “Bye Bye Bye” singers; Timberlake, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick did spend some time together at the after pary.
An onlooker told Us Weekly they were “hysterically laughing for hours.”
Kirkpatrick later tweeted a photo with Backstreet Boys members A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough.
