Patricia Arquette picked up an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress on Sunday as predicted, but her acceptance speech is what everyone’s still talking about.
Arquette has been celebrated all awards season for her role in Boyhood, she took the time during her speech to highlight a cause dear to her heart – equality for women.
The Guardian notes her speech ended with, “To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s time to have wage equality once and for all. And equal rights for women in the United States of America.”
While she was praised for it by Meryl Streep and the rest of the crowd who stood up for a standing ovation, some people took to Twitter to criticize her for it.
#PatriciaArquette complains about wealth inequality while at an event for a narcissistic celebration of multimillionaires #LiberalHollywood

Don't have the stomach to be lectured by #PatriciaArquette about wage inequality. Her dress probably cost more than most make.

#PatriciaArquette: Most Americans will never see anything like your paycheck for playing make-believe. Spare us your faux liberal outrage.
