Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani reportedly made some disparaging remarks about President Obama at a private dinner on Wednesday night, which has Democrats really upset.
At a dinner at Manhattan’s 21 Club for Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Giuliani is rumored to have told the crowd he doesn’t like our president loves this country.
"I do not believe -- and I know this is a horrible thing to say -- but I do not believe that the president loves America," he’s reported as saying, Politico reports.
“He doesn't love you. And he doesn't love me. He wasn't brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country."
Giuliani appeared on Fox News on Thursday to clarify the comments, saying he doesn’t question Obama’s patriotism but does think he’s a “more of a critic than a supporter” of America.
“I very rarely hear him say the things that I used to hear Ronald Reagan say and Bill Clinton say about how much he loves America,” he said.
These comments have started a frenzy on social media, with the hashtag #ObamaLovesAmerica trending on Twitter.
