While mostly everyone who was still awake during Lady Gaga’s The Sound of Music 50th anniversary tribute enjoyed the performance, Shonda Rhimes did not. The creator of Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy was really disappointed.
Rhimes was live-tweeting the Oscars Sunday night and wrote that she was really did not like Gaga’s singing. She suggested that Idina Menzel, who was on hand to present the Best Original Song Oscar, should have done the performance.
“And oh dear God, Julie [Andrews] had to hear that,” the How To Get Away With Murder producer wrote.
One Twitter user told Rhimes that she was “missing the point,” adding that the “unexpected Gaga made the moment.”
“I probably did miss the point. Everyone else loved it. That’s okay,” Rhimes replied, reminding everyone that she has a right to her opinion.
However, nearly everyone else disagreed with her, including Julie Andrews. The actress, who starred in The Sound of Music, came on stage to give Gaga a hug after the performance.
Gaga performed a medley of songs from the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, including “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
That was not okay. I mean, Idina is there. She is right there. RIGHT THERE. And oh dear God, Julie had to hear that. #Oscars2015
