An attorney for one of the suspects accused in the brutal Slender Man stabbing of a classmate, said that his client should be tried in juvenile court, not as an adult.
The Associated Press noted that Defense attorney Anthony Cotton said on Monday that Morgan Geyser should actually face a lesser charge in juvenile court. He argued that Geyser, who was 12 at the time, thought that she had to kill her friend Peyton Leutner, to protect herself and her family from the Slender Man monster.
Geyser, along with her friend Anissa Weier, are both accused of allegedly stabbing Leutner 19 times after a sleepover last May in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
The victim was able to escape the attack and ran to a road where she was found by a passerby.
Both of the girls accused had said they believed they were "proxies" of the Internet horror character.
As previously reported, in December, they were found fit to stand trial.
They were each charged with one count of first-degree intentional attempted homicide, but Cotton is trying to get that down to a second-degree attempted intentional homicide charge in juvenile court.
