After getting the best joke in the Saturday Night Life 40th Anniversary Special, Jane Curtin is ready to return to comedy. The Unforgettable actress has signed on to star in a Fox comedy with Rob Riggle.
Riggle, who had his own brief tenure on Saturday Night Live, will play the lead role in 48 Hours ‘Til Monday. He plays Charlie Bishop, who struggles to make the best of his weekends. According to TheWrap, Curtin stars as his children’s grandmother.
Fox ordered the pilot in January. If it goes to series, both Riggle and Curtin would be regulars.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was written by Charlie Grandy (The Mindy Project) and is a Universal TV production with TBD Productions.
Riggle did a season of SNL and was a correspondent on The Daily Show. He was recently seen on the big screen in 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street and Dumb and Dumber To. He was also set to be the star of a Modern Family spinoff, which never happened.
As for Curtin, she was part of the first five years of SNL and starred on Kate & Allie during the ‘80s. She was recently seen in The Librarians and Unforgettable.
