Twitter reactions to Harper Lee's second novel, "Go Set A Watchman"

Looks like Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird won’t be a one-hit-wonder after all. The Pulitzer Prize winning author will be publishing a sequel, Go Set A Watchman after leaving it on the shelf for over 50 years. Mark July 14th on your literary calendars and clear a spot on the shelf next to your copy of To Kill A Mockingbird.

As previously reported, Lee's sequel to the beloved tale of young Scout Finch's adventures comes 50 years after it was written. Lee stated that the book follows Scout "as an adult woman." She also revealed that the flashbacks that were in the story caused her editor at the time to convince her to write To Kill A Mockingbird "from the point of view of the young Scout."

Breaking news on social media comes with excitement, jokes, contempt and everything in between. Here are some twitter reactions to the ground-breaking news about Harper Lee and her second time around on the literary carousel.

Next emotion on the list? Shock. What 88-year-old can say they published an award-winning novel over 50 years ago, nonetheless released an overwhelmingly anticipated sequel in her old age?

On the other hand, one may not have even read Harper Lee’s first novel. Time for that to change.

An adult Scout? No one can truly envision Scout Finch unless she’s a 5-year-old girl sitting on her father’s lap or chasing around after Boo Radley. A trip into Scout’s future is a promising vision.
