Wesley Snipes has stayed away from television for a long time, but he could be headed back. The Blade actor has signed on to star in an NBC thriller pilot called Endgame.
The project was picked up to pilot in January and centers on a former sniper who get stuck in a conspiracy, which forces him to take on challenges to save others. The sniper will be played by Philip Winchester (Strike Back).
According to TV Line, which first reported the casting, snipes will play Johnson, who is the leader of “The Game,” a name for the challenges the sniper faces.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that the producers are John Davis and John Fox, who are also behind NBC’s hit The Blacklist with James Spader. John Rodgers (The Librarians, Leverage) wrote the script.
This would be Snipes’ first regular series role since ABC’s short-lived 1990 series H.E.L.P.. He recently tried to get on TV as the star of Fox’s Empire, but the lead role ultimately went to Terrence Howard.
Snipes is best known for starring in the Blade films and recently made his return to movies with The Expendables 3.
