‘The Americans’ recap: ‘Divestment’

The last episode left Martha questioning who her “husband” is as the FBI discovers that Gaad’s office is bugged. Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Philip has a mission to finish.

Nina is rewarded for turning in her call mate. She gets a reduced sentence to 10 years. Oleg’s father brings up the scientist Anton Baklanov and how he may not be helping the motherland. If Nina helps them get inside the scientist’s head she will be released.
Martha is facing her fears over at work. She is question by Walter Taffet about who goes in Gaad’s office and what she does for Gaad. They show her the bugged pen asking her if she supplied it to him. She claims to not know about the pen.
Elizabeth is trying to get information from Todd on Eugene Venter. Later, she visits Philip and their friend Reuben who has another Venter tied up. They end up setting Venter on fire in front of Todd to get him to talk. Venter is burned to death. This is to get Todd to talk. He later tells them that he has a bomb given to him by Venter.
Stan is leaving for his friend’s memorial and informs Martha about his absence. She is still on edge with everything that is happening. She watches as the new agent, Aderholt, is taken in for questioning. Since he is new around the office, Aderholt’s questioning is a lot tougher than the others.
Paige is at a library looking at civil rights activist articles on a computer. She is reading about her mother’s friend Gregory.
Nina is given a new room. It is a small room yet nothing like a prison cell.
Philip finds the bomb Todd had. While Reuben wants to kill Todd, Elizabeth and Philip want to let him live. Elizabeth releases Todd.
Philip is listening to the radio on Afghanistan. Elizabeth walks in and asks about Philip’s son. The boy’s name is Misha. In the kitchen, Paige is eating breakfast for dinner. When Elizabeth enters the room, Paige tells her about the information she learned about her mom’s friend. Elizabeth defends him but Paige doesn’t seem completely on board with her mom’s excuses.
Nina serves the scientist something to drink. He starts to question her and is no way interested in having her around.
Philip visits Martha as Clark. She tells him about what is going on with the pen and how she no longer believes that he is who he says he is. Taffet has the job that Martha always believed was Philip’s. Philip tries to get her to believe him but she doesn’t know who to trust. Philip turns all romantic on her saying that he will do anything to protect her and she slowly relaxes in Philip’s arms.
At Gabriel’s house, Elizabeth receives another recording from her mom. She discuss with her old friend about Kimberly and how she is affecting Philip. Elizabeth wants Gabriel to help get Philip’s son home from the war.
Elizabeth wants to help Philip where she can but Philip most also handle himself. Nina has to find a way to get to the scientist for her freedom. Watch everyone’s favorite KGB spies at work on FX’s “The Americans.”
