Dallas Cowboys to tag Dez Bryant and let DeMarco Murray hit free agency

In this strict salary cap NFL world we live in today, no football player is safe to stay in one city. Even if you're a stud running back like DeMarco Murray.

Fox Sports Southwest was the first to report that the Dallas Cowboys will use the dreaded franchise tag on star receiver Dez Bryant, and allow the previously mentioned Murray to hit the free agent market.

If owner Jerry Jones had his druthers, Murray, who led the league in rushing last year with 1,845 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns, would remain a Cowboy the rest of his career, via Pro Football Reference. Unfortunately for the Dallas boss, his organization is right up against the salary cap with a total number of about $130 million.

The NFL salary cap is $141.8 million.

This means that Dallas only has a little over $10 million to work with. Major restructuring and maneuvering would need to occur to somehow fit both Bryant and Murray on the roster for 2015.

What's interesting about the situation are the current rumors surrounding Bryant and this unknown dreaded video that has been speculated about.

As far as the Cowboys are concerned though, there cannot be any room to overreact to innuendo and speculation.
