Former NFL safety Darren Sharper was sentenced to nine years of federal prison today after pleading no contest in two separate sexual assault cases involving drugging and raping two women in Los Angeles.
The 39-year old was facing sexual assault accusations from at least nine women involving four different states, via Associated Press. The cases involve drugging and raping multiple women in Nevada, California, Louisiana and Arizona, which was the state he pleaded to today in part of a broader agreement involving all-four states.
It is presumed that Sharper will also plead guilty to the accusations in Nevada and Louisiana to satisfy the deal he brokered with prosecutors.
Both women involved in the no contest pleas today were not present in court, but both agreed with the deal.
Sharper played 14 seasons in the NFL for three different teams (Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints). He tallied a career total of 731 tackles and 63 interceptions, via Baseball Reference.
