Friday will celebrate its 20th anniversary and return to theaters for a short time.
BuzzFeed reports that the film Friday, released in 1995, will celebrate its 20th anniversary by returning to theaters for one night only.
Friday will show in 400 theaters on Monday, April 20.
"...for the fans to want to pay homage to the movie in this way is cool," Ice Cube, writer and star, told BuzzFeed. "It lets you know how much people appreciate it and how much fun it is."
Fathom Events will sell tickets for theaters nationwide before they can be purchased by the general public.
The showing will be a special director's cut and include a special 24-minute featurette, Friday Straight Up, with behind-the-scenes footage and cast interviews.
The Friday soundtrack will get a special vinyl reissue date of April 14. The soundtrack, a mix of classic R&B tracks as well as contemporary hip-hop, held the No. 1 spot in 1995 for two weeks on the Billboard 200 chart.
In August 2015, Ice Cube will also produce the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. In an interview with Billboard, Cube expresses his excitement for the project.
"You can go see Marvel superheroes and those kind of movies. Or you can see the real superheroes, which is N.W.A. The N.W.A. story is just controversial no matter how you slice it."
