Ever since the tragic death of Paul Walker, it has been clear he was much loved by friends, family, and co-workers, including his close friend Vin Diesel, who has often referred to Walker as his “brother.”
During the screening for Furious 7, Diesel spoke about the late actor, who passed away in 2013 in a tragic car accident. According to People, at the Los Angeles screening, Diesel referred to the film as a “labor of love.”
Diesel said that the film was difficult to do since every relationship displayed in the film “are so real.” He wanted moviegoers to know that “from my heart, know that we made this movie from our hearts. And know that this is our gift to you and more importantly, it’s for my brother there.” He reportedly pointed toward an image of his friend that was displayed on a screen behind him.
When Walker passed away, Diesel went to comfort the star’s mother and she surprised him by telling him she was sorry. After Diesel commented that it was her son she lost, she responded, “’Yes, but you lost your other half.’”
Just recently, Diesel and his girlfriend welcomed a third child into the world and named her Pauline after Walker.
He spoke on the Today show and told Natalie Morales that he could feel a presence in the room and knew his best friend was there. “There’s no other person that I was thinking about as I was cutting this umbilical cord. I just…knew he was there.”
