Zoe Saldana has spoken out about her feelings about boycotting Dolce & Gabbana over their remarks on “synthetic” babies.
As previously reported, celebrities such as Elton John and Madonna were not happy when Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana publicly declared their feelings when it came to IVF treatments and babies who were born by non-traditional means.
Now, actress Zoe Saldana has her own opinion on that matter and she feels boycotting is not the way to respond. According to E! News, while attending the 2015 GLAAD Media Awards, Saldana said boycotting the fashion brand “would be the stupidest thing if it affected my fashion choice.”
She also spoke out saying, “People are allowed to their own opinion, however I wouldn’t have chosen to be so public about something that’s such a personal thing.” The statements made by Dolce and Gabbana included their opinions on whether gay couples should adopt and how they called children who were not born by natural methods “synthetic children.”
Saldana suggested part of the issue was the language barrier, saying even her husband Marco Perego made mistakes in using the English language.
In defending his remarks, Gabbana said, “We love gay couple. We love gay adoption. We love everything. It’s just an express of my private point of view.”
Dolce also spoke out and said that while he did grow up in a “traditional” upbringing, it didn’t mean he didn’t have an understanding of all family situations.
