Burger King will help to pay for a Burger-King wedding

Burger King is paying for a wedding because of the couple’s last names.

According to News4 Washington, ever since they were kids, Joel Burger and Ashley King were known as Burger-King because their names were connected to the fast food franchise that many people love.

The couple even made their engagement announcement photo by standing next to the restaurant’s sign in Springfield, WA. It was noted that the bride’s name is usually the first that is used in the announcement, but they switched the names around.

A spokesman for the company reportedly said the company wanted to help them get ready by helping with expenses, which they accepted on Monday.

SJ-R reported the couple was given the proposal via Skype and they appeared thrilled at the news. A column written about the couple on Friday began hitting the news, even internationally.

Eric Hirschhorn with Burger King said, “we felt an overwhelming urge to celebrate their upcoming marriage.” He also described the connection in the name as being fate.

The wedding, which is being held July 17, will be completely financed by Burger King and they are even giving guests personalized yo-yos because that was how the couple was given the name at an elementary school assembly.

As Hirschorn described it, it will be a “whopper of a wedding.”
