Furious 7 has been out for two weeks and already, it is securing a record release history.
According to Variety, the box office results for the film has already hit the $800 million dollar mark globally and it is set to be the first film in the franchise, as well as the first Universal Pictures film, to go to $1 billion.
Internationally, the film hit 548 million as of today and domestically, it reached $252.5 million. The movie has been a hit among fans who went to theaters to see how the death of Paul Walker was dealt with. His brothers stood in for the late star and CGI work also allowed Paul’s image to be used.
The film has even surpassed the sixth film in the Fast and Furious franchise, which reached $789 million. It was also a high grossing film in China, debuting at $68.6 million and Russia with $15 million. It will open in Japan on April 17.
USA Today reported that the film Home came in second at the box office with $130 million followed by The Longest Ride, Get Hard with Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell, and Cinderella.
As previously reported, the opening weekend for Furious 7 brought its numbers up to $143.6 million.
