'Real Housewives of New York City' Recap: Season 7 Premiere

We’re kicking off a new season of Real Housewives of New York City with none other than Bethenny herself. She’s checking into a hotel, saying she’s the “wealthiest homeless person in Manhattan.” Bethenny has gone through a very public divorce and is upset because her husband is living in their apartment, the one that she designed and put together. Bethenny is obviously very busy. She has two books out within a month of each other, in addition to her Skinnygirl brand.

We switch over to Kristen who is playing with her children. Just after she puts them to bed she heads out to dinner and drinks with some of the ladies. Carole says she’s on a new diet that consists of “cucumbers, vodka, and butter.” What’s this diet called and where do we sign up?

Luann walks into now and is asking everyone to join her in the Hamptons. She’s had her Hamptons home for 18 years and following the divorce of her husband she says it doesn’t make sense to keep the place anymore. She bought a very cute, new place on the water and everyone is going up to visit her. The topic at the dinner table is Sonja Morgan, the ladies are hinting at her being an alcoholic. Carole admits that she has Tinder and is upping her Tinder game. Hey, everyone has Tinder right? Now we’re off to a commercial break.

We’re back with Bethenny, in her hotel room. She looks so great by the way. LuAnn comes over for a visit and of course Bethenny makes them drinks. Luann invites Bethenny up for the housewarming party in the Hamptons. Now they are talking about Bethenny’s divorce. Bethenny says she and Jason aren’t even friends and the divorce isn’t finalized yet. Ramona is also going through a divorce and LuAnn says that Ramona is unrecognizable, that she has changed a lot.

Speaking of Ramona, we are now with her for the first time in season 7, also the first time for Sonja Morgan, who is joining her for lunch. Ramona looks really, really amazing as well. LuAnn asks Ramona how she’s feeling, and she says she feels like she is falling apart. It’s really sad, she and Mario were together for 25 years and then they went into an extremely public divorce when he cheated on her.

It gets kind of awkward when Sonja turns the entire conversation into being about her. Oh well, moving on. Now they are talking about LuAnn’s party in the Hamptons. Now we are with Ramona as she introduces the new cast member to viewers. Her name is Dorinda and Ramona refers to her as “uptown chic.”

Ramona is talking about her divorce again and is telling Dorinda about how Sonja turned the conversation into being about her. It’s really sad to see Ramona this upset. Dorinda has been through a divorce, herself. She’s also a widow, her second husband passed away. Ramona finds inspiration in her.

We’re back with Bethenny again. Production is obviously happy to have her back as a part of the cast considering we’ve seen so much of her. Have we even seen all of the women one-on-one this episode? There are almost too many cast members to keep up with.

Now off to Dorinda who’s going through some clothes with her daughter. This lady is obviously very fashionable and isn’t that one of the requirements to be a real housewife? Dorinda says by giving her daughter everything she always wanted but could never have has created a monster. Pretty funny.

Now off to Sonja who is doing, what else? Hanging out with her interns. She even calls herself the intern queen. Sonja is coming to the end of a lawsuit. Unfortunately she will have to pay the guy who is suing her $7 million. The lawsuit is over a film that she worked on years ago. In order to pay him back, she had to sell one of her vacation homes.

Back to Dorinda again who is with her boyfriend. He owns a dry cleaning company that caters to the “socialites of New York,” according to Dorinda. Her boyfriend’s name is John and he even restored all of Princess Diana’s gowns. Sounds like he is definitely the dry cleaning God.

More time with Bethenny as she is looking for a new apartment/office space. She’s with fellow Bravo star and Real Estate go-to, Fredrik Eklund. Their segment is pretty entertaining but ends with Bethenny breaking down in the car over possibly not being able to have kids and even if she could, would it be wrong to because she doesn’t have a place to live?

The good thing is that she bought an apartment but is just waiting on it to be renovated now.

The episode comes to an end with Bethenny’s talk to her realtor. Next episode promises Hamptons drama as it appears a talk goes down between Bethenny and Ramona. Check next week for another recap!
