Ben broke out of the car after he was locked in it and left in the dark parking garage and then he called the police. Cornell advised Ben that he has a stalker and the motive is that he allegedly killed a child.
The texts to Bens phone were untraceable so the cops have nothing to go on. Christy and Ben had a conversation about who it could be thats stalking him. Ben suspects it is Kevin and Christy warned him to go and talk to him, not just accuse him.
Ben went to look for Kevin and he accused Kevin of stalking him after he had words with Elaine, Kevin’s wife and said, “ I know it was you.” Kevin replied with, “ And I know it was you.” Just then Cornell called him across the street and then told him she would have a cop assigned to watch him. Ben agreed to have detail.
Natalie asked him why there’s cops in front of the house and he told her about being stalked. He told her to be careful and just watch herself. While Dave was over visiting, Ben gets a text. The text was from an id that said it was from himself.The text was a picture of him laying down with an audio attached of Dave and Ben talking about the flashlight. Dave told Ben he needs to tell Cornell.
Cornell had cops search the bedroom and they found a camera hidden in the curtain rod in Ben and Christy’s bedroom. Cornell, of course was curious why he would ask them to search the bedroom for a camera. Ben told her because he is being watched somehow. He didnt tell her about the text with the audio attachment.
As Ben left the house to go stay with Dave to keep his family protected which Cornell promised that she would protect them, Jess was talking to Dave. Jess misunderstood at first why he’s leaving thinking that Christy is making him leave so she apologized.
While Ben was at Daves, they talked about hypothetically getting rid of a murder weapon if he needed to. He offered the advice of dropping the flashlight in the woods as Ben and Christy were driving to Christy’s brothers house 20 miles away. Dave brought up Christy and asked when did she change. Ben flashed back to when Christy had the abortion and told Dave thats when things started changing. He had a flashback to the day he started getting to know Jess deeper which was during fourth of July weekend when Christy took the girls to her brothers. During Dave and Ben’s conversation, Jess came over and still thought that Christy threw him out and he explained everything to her about having a stalker and needing to leave. They got into a disagreement about his family falling apart and she stormed out and drove away. He went after her. When he was outside, Kevin pulled a gun on him from behind and pointed it to the back of his head. Kevin made Ben get in the trunk.
Kevin had Ben tied up with a bag over his head in what looked like an abandoned warehouse. Kevin removed the bag and then sprayed him from the front and back with a hose with cold water on full blast. Then he took a knife and cut Ben’s shirt off. For any Ryan Phillippe fan, this a moment for the pause button!
Kevin started torturing him and told him he was going to ask questions while Ben answered. Bens answers must be yes or no. If he didn't answer correctly or did not answer, Kevin covered Ben’s face with a cloth and poured water over his face to where he was nearly drowning. Kevin’s questions make him think back to the past. He asked Ben when did he stop liking Ben. Ben couldnt figure it out. Kevin told him that he went looking for the extension cord that originally he asked Ben to look for..and Jess followed Ben. Then Ben and Jess didnt come back so Kevin went looking and found them having sex. Kevin told Ben that he was going to torture him till he confessed to killing Tom.
Ben told Kevin that having sex with Jess was a mistake. Kevin recapped that as Ben played with Tom and Scott was off protecting the country, Ben was banging Jess. Kevin blamed Ben for screwing a soldiers wife while he was away. As he tried to get Ben to confess he said, “I don't blame Elaine for what she did.” Ben called him on it and it angered Kevin more. Kevin walked him outside and kept asking him to confess and told him to dig his own grave. Ben punched him and then they struggled. Ben grabbed the cell phone and ran. He kept running until he got cell signal. Ben got 911 and as he was reporting it, Kevin caught up with him. Ben dropped the phone while it was still on and kicked it away from them. Kevin led him back to dig. Kevin held the gun to his head and was going to kill him, but the police showed up in time. Cornell made him surrender. Kevin said, “There is no justice.” Cornell said,” Yes, there is, just not out here.” A policeman cuffed him and walked him away.
Outside the warehouse in the middle of nowhere, Cornell and Ben had a conversation about how she tracked him down and how her job works when he accused her of not helping him when he told her that Kevin was the stalker. She explained to him she did her job. Kevin was in custody and now she can go back to solving Toms murder.
After Ben came home to his family. They and Dave were there. Ben went out for air and Dave went out to talk to him. Ben told him that he should be ashamed because Tom was killed and he turned himself into the victim.
Later that night, Ben opened an email from the reporter that he begged not to write that story a few episodes ago. The email had an article that wasn't published , but just for Ben’s eyes. The headline was ‘The Family, what are they hiding?’ and there was a picture of Bens family. Immediately, he ran over to the reporters house and as soon as the reporter opened the door. Ben punched the reporter as the reporter said, “I needed to get your attention.” Ben kept swinging and as they got closer to the wall in the room they were in, Ben noticed newspaper clippings and they all had Detective Cornell in them. The reporter screamed at him, “I’m not after you. I’m after Cornell and I need your help.”
