Singer Sam Smith and rapper Yo Gotti are celebrating their birthdays today, May 19.
Sam Smith, 22
Singer and songwriter Sam Smith turns 22 today. Smith first rose to fame when he was featured on Disclosure's single "Latch" and was also featured on Naughty Boy's single "La La La." Both single charted on the UK Singles chart, the latter peaking at No. 1, and eventually made it onto US radio. He released his debut extended play (EP), Nirvana, in October 2013.
In 2014, Smith released his debut studio album, In the Lonely Hour, in 2014. He made his first American television performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon where he performed the single "Latch." His album peaked at No. 1 on the UK albums chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. His single "Stay with Me" reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and his second single "I'm Not the Only One" reached No. 5.
Smith received four Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for "Stay with Me" and Best Pop Vocal Album for In the Lonely Hour. He also performed "Stay with Me" at the ceremony.
His latest single, "Lay Me Down," was re-released and has so far peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Yo Gotti, 34
Rapper Yo Gotti turns 34 today. Born Mario Mims, he started rapping at age 14 under the name Lil Yo. He released numerous independently released albums including From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game, Self-Explanatory, Life and Back 2 da Basics.
In 2012, Mims released his debut album under RCA Records entitled Live From The Kitchen which debuted at No. 12 on the US Billboard 200 chart. His single "Women Lie, Men Lie" featuring Lil Wayne peaked at No. 12 on the U.S Rap chart.
Mims signed with Epic Records and released I Am in 2013. His single "Act Right" featuring Young Jeezy and YG debuted at No. 39 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. He later founded the record label Collective Music Group (CMG) which has signed five artists as well as Mims himself.
Gotti is currently working on the release of his next studio album The Art of Hustle, which features the single "Errrbody."
