With his sarcastic and funny humor, the singer started off his show telling the crowd, “My job for the next tow hours is to entertain you.”
He most certainly did.
Along with performing his hit singles “Don’t” and “I See Fire” from The Hobbit soundtrack, Sheeran surprised fans with a random version of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” that he played on his guitar.
However, this wasn’t his only show in New York City this week. On Friday morning, he appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America to perform for their summer concert series.
Central Park was packed with Sheeran fans for his first performance on GMA. In an interview during the program, Sheeran admitted that it was also his first time ever in Central Park.
During the mini concert, he performed three of his hit singles and when asked what his favorite song to play for fans is, he replied, “Out of the three I’m doing, ‘Thinking Out Loud’ is always a lot of fun.”
He also admitted that touring the U.S. is a dream come true for English artists and playing for American fans is “a lot of fun.”
“Everyone’s so passionate and friendly,” he added.
Sheeran first gained popularity when he played along with his BFF Taylor Swift during her Red concert tour. Now, two years later, Sheeran is selling out stadiums as he headlines his own tour.
