Katy Perry hasn't spoken to ex-husband Russell Brand in almost four years

Katy Perry has revealed things ended so badly with her ex-husband Russell Brand that they actually haven’t spoken in nearly four years.

She has previously revealed Brand asked her for a divorce via text message and she’s now revealing she hasn’t spoken to him since.

“He hasn’t spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce,” she told Daily Telegraph.

She added, ”I don’t want to talk about him — my songs will say what I need to say.”

Her song, “By the Grace of God” is about their split, specifically suicidal thoughts she experienced when their marriage fell apart. She also references their break-up in “Ghost” when she sings, "You sent a text / It's like the wind changed your mind."

Perry went on to talk about whether or not she can have the successful career that she does and a relationship at the same time.

“I think it can be for a modern woman. I always thought you could have a relationship and success," she said. "For a modern woman it's important to be supported and that there is equality in every aspect. And it's not two halves that make a whole. It's two wholes that make a whole."

Perry has since moved on with Diplo and John Mayer, who she's been on and off with since 2012.
