Snoop Dogg has officially entered the war of five kings, as he believes Game of Thrones to be historical and somewhat factual. Rather than referencing scholarly text, the established rapper looks to the hit HBO series for answers and an accurate look into the past.
“I watch it for historic reasons, to try to understand what this world was based on before I got here,” D-O-Double-G said. “I like to know how we got from there, to here, and the similarities between then and now,” he told New York Post.
Snoop drew on the distinct parallels between the time period of the show and current society. The similarity he came up with involved a patriarchal thought: “That kings still rule and a b-tch f—ked everything up, in every situation.”
We can always count on former king of the jungle, Snoop Lion, to inspire us with his thoughts. He recorded a track for the show’s fifth season Catch the Throne mix tape titled “Lannister’s Anthem." The House Lannister, located in the Westerlands, is comprised of one of the oldest dynasties and richest families and proves to hold a powerful standing as one of the Great Houses on the show, which the corn-row adorned musician incorporated into his lyrics.
Verse two goes, “So much to see, blood in the streets/Incest laying with your blood in the sheets/Pop it, drop it like you wanna leave/Honour, not much amongst these thieves.”
Snoop Dogg isn’t “dropping it like it’s hot,” but instead using his rapper skills, and past lyrics for the sake of history, at least his take on it.
