ABC Family recasts Jake T. Austin's role of Jesus on 'The Fosters'

ABC Family has had to recast Jake T. Austin's role of Jesus Adams Foster on their hit The Fosters/.

TV Guide broke the news on Monday that Noah Centineo has been cast for the role. Centineo has had small roles on the Disney Channel, including in the original movie How to Build a Better Boy and shows Shake it Up! and Austin and Ally.

Centineo will first seen when the second half of the season premieres in 2016.

On the show's season two finale, which aired on March 23, viewers were left speechless when Jesus and twin sister Mariana, played by Cierra Ramirez, were in a terrible car accident. Fans were left wondering if there were fatalities from the crash.

Later that evening, Austin took to his Twitter to share the news that he will be leaving the show. “I’m honored to have been a part of such a groundbreaking series, but I personally want to let you know that my time on the show…," Austin wrote in the first tweet. “has come to an end. Thank you for letting me be a part of your family, it’s been a pleasure. -JTA,” he finished in a second tweet.

When the show started its third season on June 8, there were no signs of Jesus or Jake T. Austin.

"Right now [Jesus] is at boarding school wrestling to his heart's content and we'll be checking in with him," executive producer Peter Paige told TVGuide.com.

As for Austin's next career move, the 20-year-old has yet to make an announcement.

The Fosters airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
