Alessia Cara's 'Here' single

Def Jam artist, Alessia Cara is capturing the hearts of every partygoer who dreads the house party scene with her hit single "Here." The song lyricizes what most young people experience at house parties. However, Cara was the only brave one to write a song about her experience and what most people who do not mesh with the house party scene feel.

Eighteen-year-old Cara started off on Youtube playing acoustic guitar covers with songs such as Jessie J’s "Price Tag," Maroon 5’s "Payphone," Amy Winehouse’s "Stronger Than Me," and much more. Some may think she is an overnight success but she has been performing for quite sometime now.

"Here" was first introduced by The Fader and in its first week accumulated over 500,000 total streams.

In an interview with Fader Cara explained that the song is “for all the antisocial, awkward, and miserable party-goers of the world.” She went on to say that it was written because “This one time I went to a party and while there, I realized how much I hated it, along with every other party I had ever gone to. We wrote about it the next day."

Alessia Cara’s ability to vocalize her experience and make it relatable in a song is receiving great social media praise by other young people.

Her single ‘Here’ is just the beginning of a new wave. Cara has started something that has her audience wanting more. She is on to something great and the public eagerly waits for new amazing music by her.
