'Jurassic World': Top 10 Dinosaur moments from 'Jurassic Park' franchise

Jurassic World lit up the box office this weekend in ways that no one could imagine. Even Universal Studios didn’t expect the film to do as well as it did, earning the biggest global box office weekend in film history and might even earn the biggest North American opening of all time when all the number-crunching is finished.

Even though it came 14 years after the last Jurassic Park movie, World’s incredible success has to be thanks to the big stars of the franchise - dinosaurs. Sure, Steven Spielberg might have tried to make the human characters in the film important, but you don’t go to the theater to see paleontologists talk about killing machines. There’s also a reason why Hasbro’s toy line for World features no human action figures. It’s all about the dinosaurs.

Another theme from Jurassic Park that has survived even after all the changes made to Michael Crichton's novel is the danger of man playing god. Crichton's concerns about business’ relationship with science is too heady an idea to survive the Hollywood studio system, but executives have had no trouble making films about the dangers of humans trying to fight nature. All they really do care about is how soon can you get a dinosaur to chase a human.

Dinosaurs already stole the spotlight from humans in the films, but we’re going to take a closer look at some of the tense sequences that still give us chills from all four Jurassic Park movies. Obviously, some of the ways the dinosaurs work in the films are scientifically incorrect, but when has Hollywood ever let science get in the way of entertainment?
