Lauren Conrad is taking a stand against body-shaming, starting with her lifestyle website LaurenConrad.com.
According to Us Weekly, the designer has made the decision to stop using “any body-shaming terms” on her website.
Conrad took to her website to announce the upcoming changes to the website in a blog post on Monday.
“Starting this month, we’ll be banning any body shaming terms from the site, and replacing them with words like ‘fit,’ ‘toned,’ and ‘healthy,” she wrote. “We try to do this for the most part anyway, but we’re making it official! The word skinny will now be reserved for skinny jeans.”
Since the June theme for the website is “Shape Up,” Conrad explained that words like “skinny,” “slim” and “thin” have been used in the past when discussing getting in shape.
“My editorial team and I had a long talk about it, and we want to make sure that the focus is on being fit as opposed to a number on the scale,” she continued. “Every body is created differently — and healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes.”
LaurenConrad.com will be posting content on getting in shape as part of its “Shape Up” theme and help readers maintain a healthy lifestyle.
