Oklahoma City Thunder trade Jeremy Lamb to Charlotte Hornets

The Oklahoma City Thunder traded guard Jeremy Lamb to the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.

In return, the Thunder will get guard Luke Ridnour and a 2016 second-round pick.

As previously reported, Ridnour was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies by the Orlando Magic. On Thursday, Ridnour was sent to the Hornets in a deal that sent Matt Barnes to the Grizzlies before going to the Thunder, according to Yahoo Sports.

The Thunder will waive Ridnour if they don’t use him in another deal before July 10. The team is working on clearing some salary cap space so they can pay restricted free agents Enes Kanter and Kyle Singler.

"Jeremy Lamb is a quality young wing player who we believe has the talent to help our team," Hornets general manager Rich Cho said in a statement. "We look forward to adding him to our rotation next season."

Lamb was the 12th overall pick in the 2012 draft. He spent his first three season with the Thunder. He averaged seven points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in three seasons with the Thunder, according to ESPN.

Barnes is in the final year of his contract. Only $1 million of his $3 million salary is guaranteed if he’s waived before July 10. He averaged 10.1 points, four rebounds, and 1.1 assists last season with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Grizzlies plan on keeping Barnes.
