Although Peanuts ended over 15 years ago, Charles M. Schulz’s gang of characters have never left newspapers. The characters will be introduced to a whole new generation of children through 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Animation’s upcoming The Peanuts Movie, which will amazingly be the first time the characters will reach the big screen.
What makes Peanuts so unique is its roster of characters. While other strips only have a few major characters, Schulz created a whole world of characters that went beyond just Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
The Peanuts world was also opened up through TV specials, which to many is still the ultimate representation of its staying power. Can you even conceive of a Christmas without watching A Very Charlie Brown Christmas or Halloween without It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown? The answer is no.
Each character, no matter how minor, had his or her own personality. They became our family. A dog inspires us to dream big and a loveable loser reminds us to never stop trying. It’s those reasons and more that keep Peanuts alive. With that in mind, let’s look at some of the characters who make up the Peanuts world.
