‘Big Brother 17’ Recap: “Gronk and Roll, Party Week and a Critical POV”

We join the house right after the BOTB competition. Jason is thrilled that he won while James is upset that he did so poorly. John feels like it is Groundhog Day in the house considering he is always nominated then asked to throw the comp. Vanessa’s current plan is to either take out James or Jeff this week. James is apart of the ‘Triple J’ alliance which consists of James, Jason and Jeff. James has no idea he is being considered as a target.

We have a small meeting with The Sixth Sense alliance and Clay promises Vanessa that neither Jeff or James have any suspicion that they are targets. It is essential that James doesn’t win POV since he seems to be Vanessa’s main target. Audrey goes to talk with Vanessa in the HOH room and her and Austin promise Audrey that she is safe. Vanessa goes as far to tell Audrey she hopes she is picked to play in the POV comp. Austin would rather Jeff go home this week, but it is Vanessa’s HOH reign.

The twins Liz and Julia switch for the ninth time so far. Liz tells Julia that she must act more “bubbly” like her, whatever that means. Jeff goes to the HOH room and thinks he is informing Austin of some potential targets. ‘Idiot’ Jeff has no idea he is a potential target this week. We pick players for the POV Competition. HOH Vanessa and nominees James and John are playing as well as Austin, Shelli and Audrey. Jason’s reaction in the DR of Audrey being selected is hilarious.

There is a plan in action for The Sixth Sense alliance members in the competition to throw the comp. so Audrey can win it and keep nominations the same. The backyard looks like a giant craps table in Vegas and it is called ‘Gronk and Roll.’ They challenge another player and get inside their giant dices. They must roll their giant dice to the correct number before their opponent. Vanessa is up first and challenges Audrey to make it seem like she is not throwing it. As expected, Audrey eliminates Vanessa. A wrench in the plan when John eliminates Audrey, thinking the house wants her out.

James is up next and challenges Austin. Austin eliminates James and it seems there is no hope for James. The only way the plan fails is if John wins the POV. Shelli challenges Austin. Austin is on a roll and eliminates Shelli. It is Austin vs. John in the finals. Austin has a thought in the middle of the competition that maybe he shouldn’t win the POV. In that split second, John sneaks in and wins his second POV in a row. James is thrilled because now he thinks that the backdoor Audrey plan is in motion. Vanessa has quite the choice to make now.

John is happy with another POV victory and being safe this week. James is being super naive and feels 100% safe…which in this game is a bad idea. In the HOH room Vanessa and Austin have a heated argument. Vanessa is extremely upset that Austin didn’t win the POV and feels that he threw the competition. Austin did throw the competition and is doing his best to convince Vanessa otherwise. I really like this alliance and hope this little argument doesn’t affect them long term.

Gronk party week continues in the house as they find out every time they hear Gronk and the music play, it is time for a new party. We see all kinds of parties, ranging from toga party, pool party, hot tub party and NYE party. It was hilarious watching the entire house cram into the shower. It seemed by the end of the day, the house was partied out.
Jeff goes to talk with Vanessa to get a feel what she is thinking. He is concerned that Audrey is not the main target and is stunned when he finds out James is the target. In the backyard, The Triple J alliance is sitting with Clay talking when Austin joins them and Jeff spills the beans that the new target is James. When Austin leaves to talk with Shelli, Jason is convinced Austin is lying and knows the plan. I like that none of them have figured out that Clay knows also.

Jeff pulls aside Clay and says that Austin needs to go. Obviously, Clay tells Austin which leads to Austin telling Vanessa that Jeff needs to go and he has all the ammo that she needs. This leads to Austin and Vanessa calling out Jeff and making him look like a liar. The Sixth Sense’s plan to get Jeff or James out this week is going ahead full steam. I personally think Jeff is an idiot and doesn’t know how to play the game so I wouldn't mind seeing him nominated.

The BBTakeover music hits again and Gronk tells that all winners of competitions get to play in a luxury comp in which the winner will get to go on a cruise with Gronk and his family! I would like to participate in that. They chug a drink and whoever has the winning chip is the winner. Meg is the winner.

It is time for the POV Meeting. This should be interesting. We know John is going to use the POV. I’m hoping Vanessa does the right thing. In the middle of the POV Meeting, it is time for a quick living room party courtesy of Gronk. John obviously uses the POV and it is up to Vanessa to name a replacement nominee. I’m very happy that Vanessa chose to nominate Jeff as the replacement nominee. It is a fact that the Triple J alliance is losing someone this week. This vote should be close this week.

Who will be evicted from the Big Brother house…James or Jeff?
