‘Sharknado’ screenwriter wants to turn the movie into a Broadway musical

Thunder Levin, the screenwriter behind the genius movie Sharknado is trying to get his movie series into Broadway.

New York Daily News reports that Levin was inspired to make Sharknado into a musical after they filmed Sharknado 2 in New York.

“When we were first throwing around the titles for the second one, one of the one I suggested was ‘Sharknado 2: Live on Broadway,’ because we knew it was going to be shot in New York. So I could definitely see it as a musical,” explains Levin.

Levin’s only request for the play is that he must be able to write the script, “We could call it ‘Sharknado: The Great White Way,’” he said.

According to Broadway World, when Sharknado 2: The Second One aired, it became Sy-fy’s most-watched movie of all time.

Now Levin is bringing Sharknado back with a third installment that will air on July 22.

He hopes that he can get William Shatner and Harrison For on board, but thinks it is unlikely. Levin does reveal that there has been some contact with Shatner, but no progress has been made with Ford.

Still, Levin has big plans for Sharknado and hopes that Broadway will give it a chance.
