Kate Winslet teaches her daughter importance of having a positive body image

The beautiful Kate Winslet admitted that she had dealt with bullying about her body when she was younger. In order to protect her daughter from that, Winslet has taught Mia to love her body.

On last night’s episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Winslet opened about her the struggles throughout her childhood, reports People.

“I was chubby, always had big feet, the wrong shoes, bad hair,” she admitted to Grylls. The worst part was, most of the criticism came from females.

“That’s very damaging,” said Winslet. She explained how it forces women to be programmed to scrutinize oneself and others.

Now that Winslet has a child of her own, it is her goal to protect her daughter from body image bullying.

“I stand in front of the mirror and say to Mia, ‘We are so lucky we have a shape. We’re so lucky we’re curvy. We’re so lucky that we’ve got good bums.’”

And the exercise is paying off. Her daughter appreciates her body and has learned that there isn’t just one perfect body shape.
